The Junior School operates a fully-equipped tuckshop which provides a wide variety of delicious and affordable meals, prepared lunches, snacks and drinks for our young students, with an increasing focus on healthy food options.
The Junior Retreat, "A Disciple’s Journey", is an overnight retreat directed by our Junior Class Chaplain and facilitated by a team of Youth Ministers from various parishes from around the Archdiocese of Chicago. Cognitively, a well-regulated older child would be able to look through a set of options and make a reasoned decision.
The Junior and Senior Class Chaplains will collaborate in the second semester (January 21 & 22, 2020) to inform and recruit students for the Summer 2020 Immersion Program and to distribute application materials. We will follow all guidelines for health and safety as outlined by the Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois State Board of Education. If they struggle, acknowledge it. Our goal is for our children to develop well-regulated thought processes: to be able to sort through the chaos, so to speak, and inhibit distractions. The first step is helping children recognise the higher goal of the situation and providing the time and space for their impulses too — it’s not that all impulses are bad, it’s that they have to be regulated to the right time and place.
