The Events Captains are responsible for the logistics and planning of For the Glory Talent Shows and the Homecoming Dance Competition in the fall.
This Captain should be very organized, comfortable with appropriate technologies, have an in-depth knowledge of Homecoming events and confident in their writing abilities. The show will be judged by faculty and students, and the top-three performances get the chance to do their act during THON. 4:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Due to space limitations, the maximum number of guests per party is five. This captain will work closely with the Administrative Assistant, as well as the Alumni Association, to create new events and initiatives that will further engage students and alumni. They should be ambitious in their efforts to stay engaged with and highlight the successes of alumni, and will be in charge of creating new ways to showcase our alumni throughout the year Homecoming season. This annual tradition brings in carnival games to play, inflatables to jump in and race in with friends, and ever get your face painted. They will manage the intake of final registration. The University Court Captain is involved in the coordination of all things surrounding the University Court. This Captain should be organized and have good communication skills. They will send confirmation, check-in, and reminder emails throughout the year. Intermediate programming skills are required, any previous experience building apps is a plus. They will be the main contact for one of the vendors for all Homecoming events, Best Event Rentals. This Captain should have good communication skills. Jordan is currently a Junior at Pennsylvania State University majoring in Biology with a focus in Genetics and Human Development. A classic staple of Penn State students and alumni is of course tailgating, so why not make that a competition too? procedures, and information to all community groups participating in the parade. They must be able to create income statements, expense reports, and invoices (in Excel or another comparable medium) to analyze merchandise sales. This includes the nomination and selection of Court as well as the appearance of the court at events throughout Homecoming Week. The ideal candidate should be extremely creative and dedicated and have an interest in fashion and design. The Inventory Captains will also assist in the organization and maintenance of the merchandise storage room. This Captain is responsible for the organizational aspect of the Parade Committee throughout the year. These Captains will collaborate with other members of internal Homecoming to secure music at each specific event, and work with the Talent Coordinators and Events Captains to acquire specific tracks for performers. He has also been involved with THON since sophomore year. They will work closely with Internal Development’s Friends and Family Tent Captain(s) and OPPerations captains to ensure that the parade day tent is run smoothly. The Competing pairs will be split, and each Organization Liaison will be given a group of Competitors for which they will provide information and send reminders to. The Penn State community has done this before — 99 times to be exact. Outside of Homecoming Sarah is involved in THON, the Sapphire Leadership Academic Program, and her service sorority Omega Phi Alpha.
