Frankly, neither do I.
Depends on your area, I’m guessing. Chris, I am looking at this also . 8GB/256Gb 5G model with confirmed SD865 for $928! Does that mean you can’t remote login to a home computer?
However, WIFI speeds of a modem/router are independent of the NBN speeds and affects the speeds at which the devices within your network (or home) can communicate with each other.
Pretty sure the Optus SIM supplied with the HWBB modem will only work in two devices, the Huawei B525 they supply, or the Netgear (AC800S or something I think it is?)
Hopefully wireless 4G Plus will solve this as my phone hits 104mb/s on the Optus Network 4G Plus. I have been greatly surprised by the reliability of the service and now have the flexibility of taking the service with me when we go away on holidays.
We did have optus wireless broadband but switched to another provider.
Auto-suggest helps you quickly narrow down your search results by suggesting possible matches as you type. Stoked. Right you are, I misread the CIS. To me that ain’t right. Except at its very worst performance (which has only happened once or twice over the last month), Optus 4G has been fast enough to support Netflix streaming while doing other things – for example, working on Ausdroid, browsing the web, doing app updates from the Play Store and more. Like most Internet services, it starts to taper off later in the afternoon and into the evening – but it is very variable. (non Vividwireless)
We have 3 of these Optus services (enterprise, we pay $5 more per month for static public IP addressss). However, Optus’ 4G speed isn’t constant throughout the day.
HI Chris, I’m on the same plan, but I am interested in your modem menu. We are 1km from the nearest Optus 4G tower (Vic 3915.) I’ll just hop in here to say that today I switched from Optus cable (which was terrible) to Optus 4G home wireless, and it’s great. Newsprout is a great Aussie company that I’ve used for a few years now, $69 for 1TB of data. With one exception – when we lived in a place that had Bigpond Cable – we’ve suffered with poor internet for eight years. The upload speed is quite a bit less, but the average user really doesn’t need much by way of upload speed. If you can’t get ADSL, or its garbage, and you can’t get NBN just yet, then yes. I’m on Optus cable atm and I can’t change anything in the modem/router.
The Cat.4 LTE modem provides max 150Mbs download speed and connects to up to 57 devices with LAN Ethernet & powerful Wi-Fi in 100~200 yards. We use a VPN to do that (Mikrotik Cloud Hosted Router on a free Amazon instance) but you can use other software like Anydesk or similar too.
So, I switch to W3 Networks and that solved my problem. What a change it looks like so far. I’m evaluating my options, as I rely on a good internet service with a large download quota, so I’ll be monitoring this space 4g/5g…. Can you stream multiple HD videos while downloading Linux ISOs at full speed? Optus’ network – like most others, to be fair – is well subscribed. Actually the internet options in Australia are terrible altogether, unless your one of those lucky ones that have fibre/cable…. The non LTE version appears to be AC2650 (450 + 2200) , so I expect the newer LTE version to be at least that.
Internet speeds are 0.16 down and 0.01 up.
